Eagles can be observed perched in trees, flying over the lake, and sometimes feeding on the ice. There also are several duck and grebe species to be found. Weather permitting, there are two options for further activity. In past years, some folk have hiked the Mineral Ridge Trail for the beautiful view of the northern part of the lake. The other option is to drive down to the Thompson Lake, Harrison region where it seems to be the area "Bahamas" for birds. You'll see hawks, many duck species, swans, wild turkeys, redpolls, and other winter "regulars". The weather/state of the road on THE day will determine feasibility of this option. Call Joyce at 509-448-2447 by the evening of Thursday, Dec. 7.
